Tim Rubel Human Shakes (TRHS) is a performance company in San Francisco that combines Contemporary Dance with theatrical spectacle to make evening-length pieces that ask palpable questions about human relationships, using wit, athleticism, and choreographic collaboration. Formed in 2010, they have presented their work around the Bay Area at different venues and festivals including Fort Mason Presents, California State University East Bay’s Queer Performance Festival and Dance Mission Theater, among others. The company creates a movement language that is technically strong, yet raw, human, and authentic to the dancers performing it.
To create dances that are in response to cultural issues which affect the LGBT+ community and other underrepresented people, and to present this work through professional performances and community outreach. We also serve as the container for the choreographic work of our founder, Tim Rubel.
We adhere to values which promote high caliber artistry and creative inquiry, as well as those which promote cultural, social and economic equity. We do this through all of our programming.
